Helpful hints to make the packing and storing of your belongings a breeze!
Air conditioning helps extend the life of all your goods. Our customers have a host of storage items that demand air conditioning, including: computer equipment, electronics, leather, candles, wood furniture, antiques, delicate fabrics, pianos and other musical instruments, books, pharmaceutical samples and important documents.
Partially full or bulging boxes may tip or collapse. Heavy items such as books or tools should be packed in small boxes. Store small items like pots and pans in large appliances, such as stoves or refrigerators.
Wrap items with necessary packing material to insure their safety while in storage. Also placing fragile boxes at the top of a stack will keep them free from the weight of other boxes.
Label your boxes on all sides and the top to make them easier to find. Make a list of boxes and a plan of their placement for helpful quick reference when you need to locate your property.
Be careful not to store anything combustible (such as paint and chemicals) or perishable (such as food that is not permanently sealed).
When storing lawn and garden equipment, make sure to drain any fluids prior to storage in order to avoid corrosive damage. Use trash cans to store shovels, hoes and rakes.
Always use high quality locks on your unit. Our Storage facilities sell locks on-site; ask the Store Manager for details.
Are recommended over clothing, mattress/box springs and upholstered items.
Leaving air space around the perimeter of the unit will aid in ventilation. Leave a walkway to the rear of the unit. Use all the space available, including the height of the unit. Disassemble items such as bed frames and remove table legs when needed.
Place items you know you will need from time to time near the front of your unit to make their retrieval easier.
Visit your unit periodically at least once a month.
